Students prepare for a larger activity (maybe a final project, or a new section in the curriculum) by getting into small groups for this discussion activity. Students given a statement as a prompt and are only allowed to talk in questions to consider the statement. A statement for a space exploration themed curriculum could be: Humans can live on Mars. The statement may not be obviously true or false. Students should be writing down the questions they ask as they go along. Questions will likely build off of each other. Every five-ten minutes, the facilitator can ask students to pick a new line of questioning so they don’t get stuck in a rut while asking increasingly specific questions about the same idea.
