The “ask questions” part of the engineering design process is often ignored or distilled to logistical questions (what kinds of materials will I need/have). Encourage students to do research, and utilize internet-capable devices for students to Google and answer questions. Brainstorm researchable questions as a class beforehand. Optional: Have students pick a question to research and become “Experts,” then group students together so that they can share their expertise and be taught by their other classmates who researched other questions.
