Build an Aqueduct: A Collective Effort

Students are tasked with making an aqueduct as a class. Each pair of learners gets a segment of the aqueduct, and should know who comes before and after them. Brainstorm as a class. How much distance do we need? How long should each segment be? How do we make each segment line up? What criteria are important? (depending on math skills) What is the slope of each segment? Scaffold this lesson with other lessons on water and sturdy structures. Students should be planning in their notebooks, sharing ideas, and comparing designs throughout the process.
