In 5 min rounds, learners come up with an idea for a possible solution to a design challenge, and represent (draw, write, label) a couple of ideas over a couple of rounds. Possible solutions are generated: so not just the first or favorite idea that comes to mind. Then learners go back and critique their own ideas about how to solve the problem and think about if they would actually “work.” Maybe this is an individual activity, maybe in pairs, or maybe it is an individual activity with structured moments of peer feedback.
