The Engineering Firm Narrative

The narrative for the class is structured around students being a part of an engineering firm (in an effort to make the engineering experience feel more authentic/informed). Frame activities in the class as working for clients of the firm, and use the structure to impose constraints (such as budgets, or specific and difficult setting) and to encourage iteration (your new setting was hit by a natural disaster and you need to redesign so it’s disaster proof). This also opens up motivation for doing research beforehand (ask step).
